The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”. In a Vinyasa Flow class, that is exactly what you can expect. The instructor will lead you through a series of yoga poses, or asanas, using your breath to link those poses together. You will move fluidly from one pose to the next using your inhalations and exhalations. Sun salutations will lead you into a variety of asanas, in which you will lengthen and strengthen each muscle group. The pace of a vinyasa class adds a cardiovascular element of yoga, unique to that style of practice.

Since yoga is a practice, it is defined by the fact that it is appropriate for every skill level. There are modifications for all of the poses and each individual has the ability to make the movements as challenging as they feel comfortable with. Practicing vinyasa yoga will elevate your heart rate, improve your flexibility, balance, muscle tone and strength.

You should bring your own mat, if you have one, water and a towel. You may also want to bring blocks and a strap.
